Village of Jockgrim

The municipality association of Jockgrim is made up of the Rheinzabern, Neupotz, Hatzenbühl and Jockgrim municipalities.

Here, among the unspoilt riparian forests, comely river bends and fertile fields, centre stage is reserved for history, art, culture, and food and drink. The “Vom Riesling zum Zander” cycle route goes through romantic timber-framed villages from theRhineto the vineyards of the Southern Wine Route. Clearly marked walking routes have been provided for guests to the Rheinaue wetlands.

The “Zehnthaus” tithe house in the artists’ village of Jockgrim hosts not only first-class exhibitions but also musical and literary matinées.

In the Terra Sigillata Museum, faithful replicas of the ancient red gloss pottery recount the exciting history of the Roman Tabernae settlement – the “Meissenof the Ancient World” – and its rise to become one of the greatest porcelain producers in the Roman empire north of theAlps.

The “Haus Leben am Strom” information centre in Neupotz gives insight into how people live by – and with – theRhineand how they deal with the threat of flooding.
