"A paradise for cyclists …"

Explore the network of bicycle lanes covering 500 km

The district of Germersheim has often been described as a paradise for cyclists. As part of a network of bicycle lanes covering over 500 km in total, the cycling trails are flat, clearly signposted and more often than not lead through unspoilt nature – along rivers and brooks, through primeval Rheinaue wetlands, past the clear quarry ponds and through the Bellheim and Bienwald forests of beech and oak.

Cyclists have a total of 26 routes to choose from when exploring the Südpfalz. By combining the routes over one or more days, they can take in the Rheinaue wetlands, the Southern Wine Route and thePalatinateForest. And there are plenty of rustic taverns where cyclists can stop to recharge their batteries. Cyclists are welcome everywhere – and overnight accommodation is readily available too. Many hotels, boarding houses or holiday homes are geared towards the needs of two-wheel tourists.
